The state has primarily used AI as a supporting administrative and decision-making tool to improve agricultural productivity, modernise governance systems, strengthen law enforcement capabilities, enhance healthcare delivery, and improve public service efficiency.
Punjab’s early digital transformation efforts focused on the digitisation of government processes and citizen service delivery systems. Initiatives such as e-District services, digital land record management, welfare databases, online grievance redressal platforms, and paperless administrative workflows generated structured datasets that later became essential for analytics-driven governance and AI-assisted decision-making.
Between 2019 and 2022, Punjab concentrated on strengthening its digital governance ecosystem through the expansion of paperless governance systems, online citizen services, centralised databases, and integrated administrative platforms.
